This makeup routine will take you from ‘just rolled out of bed’ to polished in 5-minutes. I have adopted the minimalist philosophy when it comes to my makeup routine these days. I love a good, natural makeup look that instantly makes me look awake with very few products. If you’re a busy mom, forget to set your alarm for work, or spend extra time enjoying your morning coffee (like I do) and only have a few minutes to look alive, keep reading.
Let’s dive into how to master the natural girl makeup look…
If you only have 5 minutes to look polished, you want to have multi-tasking products. Grab a cream concealer, cream or liquid blush, cream/liquid bronzer, setting powder & mascara.
Step 1: Conceal any redness, dark circles, blemishes, or areas you’d like to even out. I usually apply concealer under my eyes (hello, dark circles!), around the corners of my nose, and anywhere I have a little redness or a blemish. The goal is to create a more even complexion without looking like you’re wearing a lot of makeup—less is definitely more.
Step 2: Apply your bronzer anywhere the sun would naturally hit your face. I like to use a cream bronzer along the top of my forehead into my hairline, on my temples, upper cheekbones, eyelids, the bridge of my nose, and a little along my jawline. Then I blend everything out with a brush. This adds warmth and brings some natural dimension back to the skin.
Step 3: Apply your favorite blush to the tops of your cheekbones, across the bridge of your nose, and a light dab over your eyelids. I also like to add a little on my lips to tie the whole look together.
Step 4: Lightly dust setting powder under your eyes, on your eyelids, and anywhere you tend to get oily. The key is to keep your skin looking like skin. A natural makeup look isn’t completely matte—you want your complexion to look fresh, glowy, and effortless.
Step 5: Mascara is completely optional, but if you have the time and enjoy wearing it, it really finishes the look. I personally prefer brown mascara because it gives a softer, more natural-looking finish.
