If you haven’t hopped on the matcha train yet, I highly recommend making it part of your daily ritual. Matcha is packed with antioxidants that help protect the skin from environmental stressors while supporting a healthy, radiant complexion. It may also help reduce acne-causing bacteria and calm inflammation.
Beyond its skin benefits, matcha is such a yummy and energizing drink when made properly. It’s become one of my favorite afternoon treats—a simple ritual that fuels my body & my skin from the inside out.
Steps to making the perfect Matcha Latte
To make the perfect cup of matcha—hot or iced—you’ll follow the same basic steps. I personally prefer mine iced as I am usually enjoying mine in the afternoon.
For the creamiest, smoothest matcha, I recommend using a bamboo whisk, though a handheld frother works as well. You’ll also need a wide bowl for whisking, a fine-mesh sifter, a teaspoon, your milk of choice, and your preferred sweetener.
- Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a wide bowl to remove any clumps.
- Pour ¼ cup of hot (not boiling) water over the matcha.
- Using a bamboo whisk, whisk briskly in a zigzag or “M” motion until the matcha is smooth and frothy.
- In your serving glass or mug, add ¾ cup of milk. I prefer organic whole milk for its creamy texture.
- Sweeten the milk to taste. My favorite combination is ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste and 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup. Froth the milk and sweetener together using a handheld frother until combined.
- Pour the prepared matcha over the milk and stir gently to mix.
- Add ice if desired, and enjoy!

Tip: For a hot matcha latte, simply warm your milk before frothing and skip the ice.
Optional add-ons for both indulgence and skincare benefits
One of my favorite “secret” additions to a matcha latte is cardamom. It adds a little bit of sweetness and warmth that goes so well with the matcha flavor. Just a little shake of cardamom is enough for a little boost of flavor! For an extra wellness boost, you can also stir in a scoop of hydrolyzed collagen. Many people use collagen to support skin health and elasticity. A sprinkle of cinnamon is another great addition, adding flavor along with natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Because every Mama deserves a little green goodness…Cheers!
